Summer Reading 2018 - Middle School: Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading Challenge 2017

Summer Reading Challenge 2018

This summer, McCallie students and faculty are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge! Take the opportunity to expand your reading horizons and choose books that you might not read otherwise.

Complete any five of the tasks below for an invitation to a party when school resumes. If you complete all the tasks, you will be invited to the party AND you will receive a movie ticket. Print off your list and give it to Ms. Granbery or take a picture and email to Ms. Granbery at mgranbery@mccallie.org no later than Sunday, August 19, 2018. Happy reading!

*This is not part of the summer reading requirements, but you may count books you read for required summer reading as part of the challenge.

  1. Read the first book in a new-to-you series.
  2. Read a graphic novel that isn’t published by Marvel, DC, or Image.
  3. Reread one of your favorite books.
  4. Listen to an audiobook.
  5. Read a book set in or about one of the five BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, or South Africa).
  6. Read a book that was adapted into a movie, then watch the movie. Debate which is better.
  7. Read a book published in 2018.
  8. Read a book published before 1950.
  9. Read a book recommended by a friend.
  10. Read a book about sports.

On my honor as a McCallie gentleman, I have read all the books I have logged on this list.
